I read much less last month than I had planned, thanks to a hot, wet June, an unreliable AC system, and a few geeky diversions. I cut back on my reading so much that I didn’t read any short fiction this time around, not even my June issue of Clarkesworld magazine! The only reading I was able to finish were the five novellas from the Hugo Voter’s Packet. All I need to read to complete my Hugo reading for the major award categories this year is Kim Stanley Robinson’s novel 2312. The voting deadline for the Hugo Awards is July 31st, so I have plenty of time to finish.
Once my Hugo reading is done, I do plan to go on a bit of a short fiction binge. I have quite a few anthologies I’ve been neglecting, and I’d like to catch up if I can. That’s especially true of my Ray Bradbury collection. I started The Illustrated Man shortly after he passed away last year, but haven’t finished it yet. I can’t wait to get back on track.
That wraps up my short fiction reading for the first half of 2013. I hope to get through a lot more throughout the rest of the year; I guess we’ll have to wait until then to find out.
