Ringing In The New (2011)

So here we are, in a brand new year. It’s “resolution” time, the time to list all the things we want to accomplish in the new year. Sometimes we’re successful, other times, not so much. Here at Fuddster Dot Com I won’t be making any resolutions, but I do have a few goals I’d like to pursue. Please bear with me as I list some of them below.

Learn more about WordPress. Since I rebooted this site early last year, I’ve come to enjoy working with the WordPress platform. I’d like to learn a little more about what makes it tick so that I’m not limited to using canned themes, or at least being able to modify those themes without worrying about breaking anything.

Read more. According to my calculations I’ve read 32 books last year. I’d like to bump that up to about 50 books this year, and include more works in other genres, including some classics and non-fiction titles. I’d also like to try to keep track of the short fiction I read and possibly review some of what I read here on the site.

Post more often. The thing that makes most amateur bloggers feel like amateur bloggers: Going for days, weeks or even months without blogging anything. Not that I’m trying to be a pro blogger, mind you. I just want to be a little more consistent with posting things that I read or do or may find in the corners of the internet where I hang out so I don’t lose track of them.

Lose some weight. Yeah, the old “lose weight” thing. The thing is, I lost a bunch of weight a few years ago and more than I care to admit has found its way back. I know I can lose it. I just need to put in the work to do it.

Travel. I have places I want to go and people I want to see. I can’t see why I shouldn’t be able to accomplish this if I put my mind to it.

There we are. A list of my goals for 2011. They all sound reasonable enough to me. If I make each of them a high enough priority, I should be able to make them happen. I have a year to figure it all out, right? In the mean time, I wish any and all who happen to read this a very healthy and prosperous 2011!
