Just over six weeks ago I wrote about becoming a supporting member of the 2010 Worldcon in Australia so that I could participate in the selection process for this year’s Hugo Awards. I’m happy to say that given my late start, I was able to finish reading all of the nominated fiction and was able to cast my votes for the Hugo for the very first time on Saturday. I was surprised that it took me this long do do so, considering that I’ve been reading science fiction all my life and that several WorldCons have been held in my back yard.
Now that the voting is done, I hope to get around to posting my thoughts about the nominees before the winners are announced on September 5. I also plan to read the other nominated works I didn’t get to before the deadline, but I intend to alternate them with other books on my to-read list.
Now I can get back to my nook and read at a more leisurely pace…
